Pakistani passport needs renewing - BRP name change query?

Apologies if this has been covered in another post - i tried search but could not find anything quite like this:

Wife has ILR (BRP holder) held since July 2013. She also has pakistani passport. Both the BRP and the passport are in maiden name. She has been living in Uk since July 2011 and all other "documents" (such as driving licence/bank account/payslips) are in married name. The passport is due for renewal within the next 6 months. what options does she have?
Does she:

1)get her name changed on her pakistani passport to married name and then inform BRP visa .gov about name change? (costly)
2)DONT change name on passport and keep BRP as is?

She wants to apply for citizenship soon as well so what are the implications of each option with regards to that?
