Child benefits/born before the father became British.

Post by Dali83 » Fri Feb 27, 2015 6:39 pm

Hi all,

I would like to ask if my child can claim benefit if he was born abroad one month before I became British? Please note that I brought him along with my wife where both their visas state: No Recourse to Public Fund.

I don't want to take any risk for future visas.

Your help is much appreciated.

Children don't claim benefits. The qualifying parent does. So therefore you can claim in your name.

Thank you very much for your reply CR007.

Does that mean that I can claim all the benefits that I am entitled to?

Regards

Yes.

Child benefits in your name only. Tax credits must be in joint name with your spouse.
