2 year family route and 5 years family route

Post by billi3333 » Thu Mar 05, 2015 11:47 am

Hello everyone
Yesterday I was reading about spousal visa requirements and I've came to know there is a 2 years route also, initially I thought there's a 5 years route only. Can anybody please give me information with the best of their knowledge about 2 years route and also it's eligibility. Thank you very much

Only route now is 5 years. 2 year route ended in 2012.

As mentioned, 2 year route ended in 2012.

Previously, when a spouse visa was granted, the probation period was for 2 years. The Home Office then changed the rules effective from July 2012. So all applications from July 2012 are granted a 5 year path to settlement. Any applications made prior to July 2012 will have been granted a 2 year route.

So your thought on being a 5 year route only is correct.

Yes. English at level A1 of the CEFR required:

Other ways you can satisfy the English requirement is being from a English speaking majority country or having a degree taught in English.

As long as the IELTS has not expired, it should be fine to use.

Note that you need to achieve a Level B1 (i.e a score of at least 4.0 in both Speaking and Listening) as IELTS is not intended to measure below Level B1.
