I've also received an approval letter of my British Citizenship on the 2nd of March. But I am still waiting for the invitation letter of citizenship ceremony from Home Office.

I've also contacted to my local council to arrange the date of ceremony. They said that I had to wait for the invitation letter from Home office.

I don't understand why some of you guys could book the ceremony yourself rather than waiting for the arrangement from HO.

Because I think it's different between one local authority to another. For me I received the approval letter and it says congratulations etc. etc. and please contact Wandsworth Council at this number xxx to arrange your citizenship ceremony within 21 days of the date of this letter.

I know my colleague who lives in Tower Hamlets received a letter directly from the council (didn't receive anything from HO) saying please come on this date/time for your citizenship ceremony.

So there, the procedure is different I believe depending where you live.

What the hell happened to everyone else who applied in November?????
Am I the only one left waiting?

Some people who applied in March have already received theirs... IT'S A JOKE!

Of course it's not been 6 months yet but why should it take 6 months or more to approve someone's application with no criminal conviction and nothing else wrong with it whatsoever?

I've been waiting for more than 4 months now myself...
Same as you guys, straight forward application..
It's the uncertainty that's the most annoying... don't know how long it's going to take. :(

Not being funny but for what I have read here from people who asked questions on FOI/FOA thing they disclosed that they receive around 8,000 applications every month. Okay, fine, so that's £8,000,000 (eight million pounds) received by the home office to process them every month.

Now is anyone under the impression that staff processing these applications receive a lot more than the minimum wage? I doubt it. If it takes that long to even reach the top of the pile I guess there are not many of them doing this job.

It goes to show that they take the piss on us who pay a lot and on staff who don't get paid a lot.

Lovely.

Lovely.
Inspector John Vine states in his famous 11 Dec report as follows.

"In the calendar year 2013, Nationality Casework had an income target of £127m and achieved
an actual income of £152m. Due to the value of British citizenship to the successful applicant, the application fee (£906) was significantly higher than the associated administrative costs to the
Home Office (£144)."

So HO is making £762 profit on each application which has increased to £862 now. And still providing pathetic and below the standard services,

No way to find out the actual status of the application.
Not to everyone and Not even sending proper acknowlegdment letters.
Not dealing applications in timely manner.
Not dealing applications on first come first serve basis ( infact there is no criterea, its just a random selection).
Not even doing proper data entry of the applicant's details, entrying wrong addresses etc.
Not attending phone calls.
Not sending proper reply to the emails.
Not dealing with complaints in a proper manner.
Not sending actual updates even after 6 month, just sending copy paste reply to everyone.
Not justifying that why one application of the same nature is taking 2 weeks and other is wiating for a year.
Not sending any correspondence by even 1st class post.(coz of that so many approvals and other correspondence gets lost)

HO is not doing it for charity ther r making hell of a profit out of these nationality applications then why dont they start online status check for applications, why dont they give proper and actual updates of the particular application, why dont they reply to the email after reading it properly and response accordingly, why why why whyyyyyyy......

Even If they start doing physical checks by going into the relevant departements i.e DVLA, Police, Coucils, HMRC etc even then it wont take 6 months then how come all electronic enquiries which r available on their finger tips taking ages. how how howwww........

doesnt make any sense or logic.
Can anyone see any logic or sense in this procedure or have any other point of veiw please post it here.

right, I had a feeling I would soon be coming here to complain again but today I heard my letter box open and ran to it only to see the brown envelope with my name on it.
strangely, it wasn't the approval letter but the ceremony invitation from the council. So I rang the council and asked where's the letter and they said it should arrive within a day or two.... we'll see.
for now at least, BEST OF LUCK to everyone here still waiting.
I know I read this message of Good Luck hundreds of times on this and other forums and I never believed it for some reason but BELIEVE it will arrive at some point.
My application was VERY straightforward, I have never even had a parking ticket let alone anything else and I've never been to a police station in my life here or back home so I guess that helped.
5 months in total, maybe a few days give it or take but 5 months all in all so for all of you waiting THERE IS HOPE LOOOOOOOL.

Cheerio

I'm still waiting as well.

I can't understand why its taking this long.

Only consolation is that we have our passports and Biometric cards so we can still work, travel out and back in.

Just saw May 2014 timeline where some people waited for 11 months  :( :(

I hope we get responses before the end of this month (earlier rather than later)

I know I used to read messages of people saying 'good luck' and 'it will come soon' and I never really believed it.
My application was approved just before it completed five months.
Money spent
£50 plus books roughly £20 - Life in the UK test
£100ish English Test ages ago
£50 NCS
£906 Naturalisation application
£100 Private ceremony 'optional'
£85 Passport application
£1,291 AND COUNTING

LOL

Good Luck and Goodbye.

Finally, got my approval letter on Saturday 18 April 2015.

Current nationality: Pakistani (2 Yr HSMP + 3 Yrs Tier 1 + 1yr ILR)
Language criteria met: UK Degree
Method of application: NCS Newbury
Date of application: 24.11.2014
Method of payment: Credit Card
Date of receipt By UKBA:
Date of debit of fee: 01.12.2014
Date of receipt of approval: 18.04.2015
Date of ceremony: 20.05.2015

I would say if you are still waiting, try calling the contact centre and get them to look at your application status. It seems like the pending applications are just sitting without being picked up.
Best of luck everyone and thanks for the support..
