Working on a Spouse/Partner Leave to Remain Visa

UPDATED: - Hello Guys,

As you all may know the UK.gov website is very confusing for a lot of us. Even me who is a native...

However, I am looking for so much information to do with my wife (foreign national outside of the EU and Commonwealth) working here that I am at ends with this.

She has got her Spouse Visa, her NI number, her Driving Licence and a Masters from Bristol University in IR.

This has been the situation for the past couple of months, and jobs have been applied for consistently related to her field. Now I know that her experience / degree grants her at least an interview and this is just from my experience. But she has been getting bupkiss.

I need an answer;-

- On the cover letter she clearly states that she has a Spouse/Partner Leave to Remain Visa with the right to work full time in the UK... now does she have to inform them on the cover letter or can she remove it? Would it be beneficial or detrimental to her application if she does remove it?

- Is the Public Affairs sector such a ball ache to get into with a Post-graduate degree right now?

I am losing my nerve with this, as it has been too long since she has had a response from anyone.. And it is getting rather peculiar as I have double, triple checked her CV and Cover Letter and it is an employers dream.

Anyway I will appreciate all the responses.

She is free to work. Perhaps it is her field that is the problem, maybe not much available. She should try be flexible in what she is prepared to do. Sign up to some employment agencies etc

1. She can write about her visa stating her eligibility to work on a spouse visa. This will be checked anyway. If she is possibly aiming too high and not prepared to start in any other type of job, yes, she will struggle and might be coming across as uncompromising. Lots of British graduates also in looking for jobs so it is a tough market, also depends where you are based. I know someone for example who was a retail manager in home country and came to the UK (British citizen through father) and couldnt crack retail market, started with pushing/collecting trolleys at ikea because any work was better than none. Took him the first 2 years of being here to get to where he wanted to be. I also am educated but started as a temping receptionist when i first arrived. Just lowering your expectations can often be the breakthrough needed.

2. She can work 100% full time.

3. Most Job Centres and agencies will help with CV writing and sdvice.

1) Personally if it were me, I would remove it. However that is just my personal opinion. All employers do checks to verify whether candidates have the right to work in country, especially with tightening of immigration controls & associated penalties/fines they would be imposed to if they don't comply.
2) Simple answer, which has already been provided is, Yes.
3) I don't think this is a question that you'd get a clear 'yes' or 'no' answer to, as it's always going to be based on personal opinion. It may very well vary based on industry sector, location & the expertise an individual has. I personally have not encountered a difference in the way UK natives are treated when compared to those on work visas. I have however heard of instances where employers have been less inclined to invest in hiring someone who has limited time to remain in the UK (if their need is a long term one) when compared to someone who is settled or a EU citizen. Securing initial Graduate level employment is generally more challenging when compared to someone with specialist skills or experience. Other than the obvious public sector jobs where security clearance is required, nothing else comes to mind that's worth mentioning in terms of reasons why a UK job search would be more challenging for a non native in the UK.
