URGENT- Tier 1 General Extesion - Visa fee payment issue

Hi,
One of my friends applied for Tier 1 General Visa extension at the end of Mar 2015. He sent cheques for the visa payment.
But he receive a letter from his bank saying that the cheque was not paid because the amount was not written in words.

When called the Home Office call center, they advised to send in a filled in payments page with card details. He did so.

He did not receive any communication from Home Office yet.

Now that the Tier 1 General Visa extensions are closed effective from 6th Apr 2015, what will happen to his application and what options would he have?

Don't worry it will be fine. Of they have asked for payment page and you have sent, hopefully will be okay.
