ILR -no options in SET(0) for dependent for Language exam

Post by shyamite » Mon Aug 31, 2015 7:33 pm

Hi,
I am applying ILR next week and there is an issue in English section.

I am using following latest SET(o) link in SECTION-4.3

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _08-15.pdf

I did my IELTS in 2010 , and my partner took GESE(CEFR-B1) trinity college before 6 April-15.

I have few query in Section 4.3 - Language

1. After choosing either option in 4.3 there is no where in form is asking the detail of dependent exam detail, all it asks is the main applicant English exam detail. I think form got something wrong in it completely in this section. Can some one please advise on this?

2. for GESE-B1 ( trinity), I should choose "A speaking and listening qualification at level B1 or above from the Secure English Language Test (SELT) list " or An ESOL qualification at Entry Level 3 .... As trinity certificate mentioned the ESOL-entry3 as well.

3. This point is just for confirmation, I took IELTS in 2010 which expires in 2 years( but used in entry clearance) so I assume there is no need to take any English test as it will valid for the ILR.

Thanks in advance. Many thanks in advance

1) The form has 2 columns of checkboxes for Q4.3.
Do you see them on the form :?:

1st column is headed "You" - for main applicant. :?:

2nd column is headed "Your Partner" - for dependent.

2) See https://www.gov.uk/english-language/app ... ifications
- have a look at transitional/SELT list & also the Oqual website.
Then respond on the form accordingly.

3) See paragraph "If your qualification expires" on the linked page above.

Thanks noajthan. Sorry If I am not clear in my first question:

In aug-15 version of SET(0)
https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... _08-15.pdf

suppose you tick both of you and your partner english test as following and move to section4.5
"A speaking and listening qualification at level B1 or above
from the Secure English Language Test (SELT) list (Go to
question 4.5 below); OR"

Now section 4.5 or any other section at all not ask for partner exam detail. ( it only specifiy "you" not "your patner"). I think form somewhow is not right. It does not ask partner exam details etc.

I see what you mean now - the remaining questions focus on main applicant alone.

If that is latest form it must be what they want.

1) I do not think that it is right forms as suppose if they want Only main applicant exam detail ( highly unlikely) 2) Also even then my IELTS does not fit in the flow.

It will be 4.3 --> 4.5 and then dead end as I cannot fill 4.8 as it does not have IELTS body( test taken before 6april-2015).

I am thinking to use old form but it will be very risky.
Any advice please.

Hi,

You are correct. I face same issue so I have put little note(s) along with boxes I have filled in for language. There is no space to provide details of the pass certificate of the dependant.

Regards.

Many thanks for reply

So you gave your detail only in form by adding a liner ?
I took IELTS in 2010 and that body is not listed in 4.8 at all , also how you gave dependent exam detail , like wrote extra line in section 4.5/4.3 ?

Yes, I just checked the boxes and put a little note along with that. Only details for main applicant are provided in 4.8 but nothing for the dependant and will just present dependant certificate.

Urgent help - NO last bank statement sent by bank

Post by shyamite » Thu Sep 03, 2015 7:05 pm

Hi,

I have ILR appointment next week.
I was expecting bank statement today but I just understood from natwest that they have changed my bank statement to electronic statement.

really do not have word what to say them.

They are saying that I can get statement in branch ( but no seal and sign), I also get the statement online which depict my address and all bank details , but it is still print statement which I doubt UKBA will accept...I have attached the format of statement whihc I am able to download.

Can anyone please suggest me what to do now.

from natwest that they have changed my bank statement to electronic statement
Natwest don't just change it to online themselves. A message pops up when you log in online and if you clicked 'ok' to switch to online statements then that is how it happens. Myself and my daughter bank with Natwest and click no to the message each time and still get posted banks statements on all 5 our accounts.

Call them, explain the situation and insist on getting the paper statement by post. Perhaps its a matter of issuing duplicates, they might charge you.

If you are only trying to proof where you live, perhaps utility bills would be enough as a replacement.

I have a suggestion, I assume you are using bank statement to demonstrate earnings to get enough points for the ILR.

If that is the case you can show earnings from any 12 months from the last 15 months. So in effect if you leave this month and can still have enough salary from the preceeding 12 months to get you the earning points you shd be ok.

Senior members, pls correct if this is wrong.

Cheers,
Jacob

Though there is no specific limit of maintenance but I need to show that I can maintain myself and that document must not be older than 28 days ( last 3 months) so I must need to present bank statement.

the salary point i can show as you said, but it will again complex the situation.

Should I submit the print statement and explain that in covering letter?

My understanding is that for ILR there is never a requirement to show maintenance money. Pls validate your understanding once again.

If I were you, I will not make things more complicated then they need to be.

Jacob

If you wanted to proof for the earnings, you may try this one as well
Go to bank with Set(O) guidance and show them page #7 (Personal bank or building society statement) instruction and explain about the stamp & signature needed on a printed statement.
It worked out for me a few years ago with Lloyds TSB bank. People may have different stories like this.

If I may ask, where is this requirement mentioned?

Where is this "no older than 28 days" requirement that you claimed?
All I see, as per your directions, is a note which states at the end "should cover at least the last three months". It doesn't say "3 months preceding the application" either, i.e. - 8-Jul to 7-Sep.

So for anyone applying in September, this could be (depending on the statements available or requested):
July, August, September.
June, July, August.

And, did you miss noticing that "bank statements" are not the only documentary evidences mentioned in "your finances" on page 67??
e.g. - did you miss noting "pay slips" in that sentence?

I have this understanding from the past TIER-1 applications where I need to provide the latest bank statement, I think there is no specific req of fund in account for ILR but if it ask to in funding section ( and specfically mention that they will not accept ATM statement than it seem they need bank statement to know the disposable savings. Old TIER-1 Point-162 - Page 36, It was 31 days not 28 days

The sentence in "your finances" and the explanation in "note 4" is in simple English and easy to understand. If you wish to assume or imagine something then the mistake is yours!

Hi @shyamite I am in a very similar situation as you. I passed my IELTS in 2010 and have used it to get my extension in 2012. Can you please let me know how did you fill your form?
