This is just bulls**t. And I have to wait another 5 weeks. It is just incredible that they can do that and I can't do anything about it.

Legal action needs to be taken. Issue of an acknowledgement immediately on receipt , cannot amount to 2-3 months anyway.

People have to take legal action against the department.

What kind of actions? I've been everywhere, from NASC, Solvit to the solicitor. Only thing they all say is that there is nothing they can do. I've sent emails but no response, except to tell me that I have to wait a further 10 weeks because they are busy. Yet someone who sent the app. after me gets a response before me. So what can I do and how?

Don't know why they say this.

Ireland is clearly in breach of EU law.

And after all that talk, I went to pay my rent and the landlord gave me my ack. letter. 11 weeks exactly. And finally I can look for work and start a normal life. I just feel really bad for the rest of you guys waiting. Keep us updated and, hopefully, by the end of next week we can end this thread.

11 weeks is actually very bad.

Nearly half the legally permitted period to make a decision

Hi guys , I know you guys are waiting from long time but I am waiting since June .

I applied for my nephew who is 1 years old and was born here in Ireland ,the department received the application on the 19th of June ,as I needed my passport for travel , I wrote to them and we got our passports back after couple of weeks. After few weeks I recieved a letter from them asking me to send couple of more documents which I did the next day.
Now it has been 16 weeks and I am still waiting for the temporary stamp 4 , I emailed them at least 5 times and send a letter through recorded delivery but no reply .
Yesterday I recieved an email from them saying to me that as my nephew is under 16 "he is not currently required to registered in state" .

Guys , I am very confused here , I know as my nephew is under 16 he won't get the GNIB card but I m sure he can get the letter confirming his residence and a stamp on his passport from local Garda station . Please let me know guys if I'm wrong.
any help will be much appreciated .

They are right to say that a child under 16 is not required to register in the state.

However under EU law, they need to send an acknowledgement of his application, which they have yet to sent.
