Naturalization- 3years of spent drink driving conviction

Post by britain420 » Sun Nov 22, 2015 6:46 pm

Hi,

I have indefinite leave to remain. I recently got convicted of drink driving 12 months ban which will be reduced to 9 months after course + court fine. My Questions are (1) will it affect my spouse visa extension or ILR if she is currently my dependent living in UK (2) under new rules after how long will I be able to naturalise as a BC. Thanks

It shouldn't affect your spouse's applications but you will need to wait a while before you can apply for citizenship due to the new good character requirements.

See link below on the good character requirement. As it is a conviction that you have, you would likely need to wait.

CR001 thankyou for your quick responses. I wish I could backspace my past few weeks. I made a wrong decision and its all my fault and I deserve to be punished.

These things happen so don't stress too much. Just keep out of trouble and prove you are a good candidate for the next couple of years. When you do eventually apply, you will need to declare the conviction.
