USA Study visa for British Citizen

Hi,

I like to peruse a course, duration can be around 1 year, in the USA and I am a British Citizen living In UK.
My questions to you are that, is there any age restriction to go on study visa as I am 40 ?
second question is, do I need to have any English proficiency test requirments , if so which one exactely such as IELTS ,TOFEl etc,.

I would really appreciate your responses on this .
