Visa still valid after travelling back to Iran?

Post by cassyas » Thu Apr 28, 2016 8:09 pm

Hi all,

We live in the UK. My husband is dual nationality (Uk/Iranian). He has a B1/B2 10 year visa. He has since been back to Iran after the visa was issued. Is the visa still valid or does he have to apply for a new one after every trip to Iran. Thanks.

Normally a 10 year multiple entry B1/B2 visa would, as suggested be valid for travel to the US over the 10 year validity period. Unless it is subsequently curtailed.

Is there any particular reason you believe your husbands visa wouldn't be valid after travelling to Iran? Were any restrictions/endorsements mentioned on his passport?

Thanks for your reply. There are no restrictions/endorsements on his passport. It was just a comment a colleague made suggesting he would need to reapply for a visa every time. Just wanted to check in case there was some truth in it. Thanks for putting my mind at rest.

Possibly a misunderstanding in the changes that came into effect earlier this year, where individuals who have visited or are dual citizens of certain countries (e.g. Iran) are no longer permitted to enter the US through the ESTA visa waiver programme, even though they may have a previous valid ESTA on their British/other visa waiver participating country passport.
