switching visa from Tier 4 to student visitor visa

I studied in London 6 months course of english under Tier 4 visa ,now im in my home contry to renew my visa but i want to study 8 months of english ,Iam asking if I can apply for student visitor visa (short term) ,or I have to apply for an other Tier 4 ,?
I want to join university next september I got 5.5 in th IELTS exam and I need 6 .

Either, in theory. Ask your college what they recommend.
