Visiting India on PIO and coming back after 2016

Hi All,
First of all, apologies if I selected a wrong section to post my query.

I already have PIO card. I need to visit India now (leaving on 20th). My OCI is already processed however just now checked that after process I need to go to vfs and hand over my passport to get stamp(or register my passport). However I havent got enough time to do that now.

I am planning to go to india on my PIO card now however while coming would I have any issue? Can I come back on my PIO card? would immigration be smooth or will they ask OCI card?
