OCI and exit visa for british born baby in India

Hi,
Can you please guide me in applying for OCI for my child:
My child was born in June 2016 in India. I am a British Citizen by naturalisation, my wife holds indian passport and she is on a spouse visa. I have now applied for british passport for my child and is in the process and hoping to obtain it end of December 2016.
what is the next step after obtaining the British passport : can I apply for OCI for the child or should I need a exit visa (If so what are the procedures involved) or both?
