OCI / Indian Passport Surrender Queries

Got few queries regarding OCI.

It looks like , you are new to the entire process, hope a long way to go......
Let me try to share what I know.

1. Is OCI a plastic card or Sticker on your British passport?

It looks like Indian passport and has very few pages ( I think four ) I am yet to get mine.

2. After reading the content on vfs website - http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/pdf/OCI_050316.pdf

I understand the process can take up to 8 weeks.

Yes, if you are lucky

A) Will Indian consulate keep my British passport for 8 weeks or will I get it back after verification?

B) While OCI is under process- Can I travel to India on Indian passport?

NO, you would not having your Indian Passport

3. Surrender process

Is this OCI process then surrender passport or surrender Indian passport then OCI process ?

First you have to Surrender your passport to obtain OCI card

I’ve checked the website you mentioned in your post, When I am booking an appointment for “Surrender certificate” on Web: http://www.vfsglobal.com/India/UK/sched ... tment.html

When I click on “Schedule an appointment” and I fill the VAC Centre, number of application visiting & Service.

For Service – I select “Surrender of Passport” then on the new window it ask me to fill all my information (passport number, first name etc.) and also ask me to enter “OCI Registration Number” – This is place I am getting confused.

Can you please advise what should I enter ? as my understanding is “Surrender certificate” is a part of process to obtain OCI ?

Can you please confirm.
