Tier 5 dependent visa

Post by arindam14 » Mon Jan 09, 2017 3:10 pm

Hi everyone,
I find this forum so much useful for getting UK immigration information.
I have a query regarding my wife's dependent visa.

I am holding a tier5 govt authorized exchange tempory worker visa for 2 years and doing research in UK university. My wife from India wants to come to UK as my dependent and want to stay with me during my 2 years of research. But when I am trying to apply for her visa, I am not getting any dependent category in the website (www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk). Only visit visa is available for her. But as far I know visit visa has lot of restrictions and different from dependent visa. So which category shall she apply?

Will she get work permit in UK as my dependent.?

brother try this, as i am also intending to do the same next month. Most of the people dont even understand what t5 is actulally, so they wont give you exact advice (even lawyers) :o

so now try this

in the
1. Reason for vist select <work>
2. Visa Type <Tier 5 (Temporary Workers) Visa>
3. Visa Sub Type <Tier 5 TW Partner>

i am sure the dependants are allowed in the Tier 5 Cat, so good luck and keep in touch please,

ask any question and keep posting the updates from apply to result

:)

Posting as someone who does understand what a Tier5 Government authorised Exchange Temporary Worker visa is, dependants are indeed permitted to apply. This is why I posted a link to the official guidance in my post prior to yours.

Any competent legal professional specialising in UK Immigration law would be aware of this category. Perhaps you've been speaking to the wrong legal advisors.

Not all categories of Tier 5 allow dependents, so people are often confused. The devil is in the detail and clearly documented on UKVI's website and in immigration rules.
