Irish Naturalization:

Post by mufc69 » Tue Jan 10, 2017 12:29 am

Hello, I'm a dual British/Irish from Northern Ireland, my wife is from the Philippines and has been living here in the UK for over 3 years on a UK residence card issued under Surinder Singh. I would like to know if my wife would be eligible to apply for Irish naturalization as she has been living on the Island of Ireland for more than 3 years?

Ideally she would prefer to wait and apply for British naturalisation, although with Brexit and not knowing what will happen afterwards regarding those who have settled into the UK via Surinder Singh its good to have another option.

If you have been married for over 3 years, have been living in Northern Ireland for the last 3 years without a break over 6 weeks you will be able to apply.

When applying submit a PSNI Criminal Record check to help speed up the application.

Irish Naturalisation: Referee's

Post by mufc69 » Sat Mar 18, 2017 1:07 pm

Hello there, my wife is from the Philippines and is applying for Irish naturalisation as she has now been living here in Northern Ireland for more than 3 years and prior to that we lived in the south of Ireland, so this July she will have been here for 4 years. I would just like to know when filling out the application it asks for referee's that are Irish citizens, as I'm both British and Irish citizen can I also be a referee or must this be someone who is not a relative?

Thanks

To mufc69

Its says in the form to provide irish citizen reference from 3 person.
yes you can give her reference but still you will need to 2 more refree..
If i were you Id provide 3 different reference from relatives or from friends. From my best knowledge you can be refree too.
I would prefer 3 different refree because her application will be based on your pilar.
so its better to have 3 diff reference from diff people..
it can be any one who knows her well but have to be irish citizen..
hope it helps

Need help with regards to Naturalisation:

Post by mufc69 » Mon Jun 18, 2018 9:30 pm

Hello, my wife is from the Philippines and applied for Irish naturalisation 1 year ago and we are still waiting on the result of her application. She is applying as the spouse of an Irish citizen living in Northern Ireland and we have been living together in Northern Ireland now for over 5 years, now with 2 young children. She also submitted a police report to show that she has no criminal convictions to see if that would help speed up the application, but we have been waiting all this time and have heard nothing at all? Would anyone know what could be the possible hold up on her app or what is normal time frames for applications? :?:

Thanks

Second Stage Naturalisation

Post by mufc69 » Sun Jun 24, 2018 5:51 am

Hello, my wife applied for Irish naturalisation in June 2017, in April we received a letter saying :

"Your application for naturalization is currently being processed in the normal way with a view to establishing whether your meet the statutory conditions for the granting of naturalization and will be submitted to the Minister for decision when processing is complete.

If further documentation and/or clarification of any matter related to your application for naturalization is required from you we will be in touch with you in the coming weeks."

Does this sound like a second stage process letter?

In the same boat here - exact wording received in April also, although i applied in Oct 17.

Impossible to know whats going on - turning into a shambles.

Second Stage Naturalisation

Post by genuinecomputer2018 » Tue Jul 10, 2018 6:41 am

I got a second stage letter today. They said your application is been processed with a view to establishing weather you meet the statutory conditions for the granting of naturalization and will be submitted for minister decesion as soon as possible.

It would be greatly assist us if you only contact us as it is absolutely necessary as this will allow us to
Devote the maximum time to the processing of application.

Processing team 3
I Applied last 27th of April 2018 as a spouse of Irish Citizen. And I have taken social welfare payments last 3 years as a part timer. I don't know that will be any impact or not.

Thanks guys
