Translation of UK police certificate

Post by india22 » Thu Mar 11, 2010 4:56 pm

Hi guys,

I need to apply for Italian citizenship and one of the documents that I need to present is a translation of my UK police certificate of no criminal records.
I have verified this with the Italian consulate and apparently I can do the translation myself.

Does anybody know if I have to translate every single word on the page (including the letter heading and title of whoever signs the document) or just the relevant parts?

Many thanks
India

No I don't, I have spoken to the Italian Consulate in London and they deal with the legalisation of translated documents.
I would just like to know what the correct format for this kind of translations.

thanks again

Why don't you check with the Italian Consulate themselves on the format that would be acceptable to them?

Which UK police cert. for Italian citizenship thru marriage?

Post by daveed123 » Mon Aug 22, 2011 1:19 pm

Dear india22,

I am also applying for Italian citizenship through marriage and require a police certificate from the UK.

May I ask you which UK police certificate was deemed acceptable by the Italian authorities? In particular, was it the ACRO police certificate?

I am overseas and this is not clear on any of their websites.

Many thanks,
daveed123

Dear Daveed,

It was over a year ago when we applied but it was issued by ACPO. have a look at this websites
http://www.met.police.uk/information/forms/3019.pdf
http://www.met.police.uk/information/request_forms.htm
As long as you don't have a criminal record and you live in London you need to fill in the "Metropolitan Police subject access form"

hope this help

Hi India

How was your result? I hope it's positive.
I am also applying for the Italian citizenship.
I wonder if you could share your experience and the translation form for the UK police certificate (if you still have it.)

It's really good to know that we can translate it ourselves. I can never get to talk to one of the staff at the embassy on the phone.

Best
Pat
