Post by sajgil5 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 6:33 pm

Hello

me and my wife are on ILR since 06/15 and will be applying for citizenship soon. i am director of the business we own and she works as an employee. i was unaware that she can claim some materinity benefits even when on ILR ?

is this true ?

if yes , we already have our newborn now so is it too late to apply ?

thx for any info you can shed

Once you have ILR you are free from the 'no recourse to public funds' and can claim benefits.

If the baby is a very newborn baby, she should still be able to claim SMP. She can also claim child benefit and you can claim child tax credits if you qualify.
