Is it possible to apply for IreEU1 from another EU country?

Post by Bobthemoggie » Mon Feb 06, 2017 9:51 am

Hi Guys,

Want to check one scenario-
Consider a scenario, you as EU citizen living in another EU country in Schengen area (apart from Ireland & your own EU coutry) & your non-EEA family members are staying with you (Perhaps awaiting for decision on their EU residence permit in that country);
In this scenario, is it possible to apply for the EU1 application with local Irish embassy / by post?

Or correct route will be - Apply for Type-C visa to local Irish embassy.
Travel together to Ireland & then file EU1? (obiviously while excercising your EU treaty rights)

Or await indefinitely for EU residence permit outcome at current EU country location. (If none of above is feasible)

Cheers

You'll need to apply for Type C visa first and then apply EU1 once you have all the required documents.

Thanks for your response.

After getting Type-C visa, is it possible to apply for Ireland EU1, from another EU country ?
(Similar to UK - EEA application procedure, wherein you can apply for EEA from outside of UK)

Cheers

EU1 isn't actually a visa. It's just a confirmation of your status in Ireland.

EU1 is granted based on EU national exercising their treaty rights in the Ireland and that's why it's not possible to apply for EU1 if you're not resident in the Ireland.

Hope that helps.
