ILETS UKVI academic or Life Skills - Spouse visa requirement

Post by edyy217 » Fri Feb 10, 2017 1:19 am

Hi,

Can you please clarify a situation.

I am intending to apply for spouse visa for my wife. I want to confirm what is acceptable English language requirements.

She has passed IELTS UKVI academic (Level C1) with an overall score of 7.0 bands.
Listening 6.5
Reading 7.0
writing 6.5
speaking 7.5

The reason for going for IELTS academic was that she wants to pursue post grad studies later.

Does the above English language requirement for UK spouse visa? or does she needs to go for IELTS life skills level A1

Any help would be much appreciated!

thanks

I think she have to do both because for spouse visa Life skill A1 is compulsory they no longer entertain academic for immigration.

Where is it stated or what is the evidence behind the above statement.

Hi CR001,
Many thanks for the reply. my confusion and hence the debacle around going for IELTS UKVI acadmeic arose from the following instructions on British council's website when trying to book IELTS test:

http://takeielts.britishcouncil.org/iel ... %20result?

It states there you can go for ILETS and need to get 4.0 or above in Speaking and Listening (scores for Reading and Writing will be ignored).

What was the conclusion here? From my read it looks like IELTS FOR UK VI Academic at the right scores looks sufficient to meet the requirements for spouse visa as it will be above A1 level required (as long as right score 4.0 and above is reached in Speaking and Listening)
