Hi all,

Similarly to PCB, my fiancee has received notification of her successful application, very similar timeline overall!

Hoping our local council will receive her paperwork this week sometime (they told me they normally receive documentation on a Thursday) and we can get her ceremony done in the coming weeks. Then onto the passport and the headache of a counter signatory who has known her two years!

Congrats on your PCB. 8)

@Swebri

Congrats, very good news and that is a really quick turnaround on the passport, I'll be hoping for anything close to that.

Can I ask, what passport did your countersignatory hold? I know applying form outside the UK you can have EU, US or Commonwealth whereas they dictate a British passport holder for application from within the UK.

Cheers

Thanks.

My countersignatory has an EU-passport. I had the impression that a non british passport would mean longer processing time, perhaps I was lucky.

Ok great, thanks.

So you didn't have to attend an interview either?

@PCB46 have you had your ceremony yet and have you got someone to countersign?

Hi all,

So as of yesterday my fiancee is officially a British Passport holder! Time for me to sign out but here is the final timeline for her application:

Documents sent: 16/11/16
Documents signed for @ UKVI: 17/11/16
Ceremony fee taken: 26/11/2016
Email confirming application received at Home Office: 28/11/2016
Letter dated 25/11/2016 received asking for Biometric enrollment: 30/11/2016
Biometrics enrolled at PO: 02/12/2016
Letter of approval: 10/02/2017 (Dated 09/02/2017)
Ceremony held: 22/02/2017
Passport Application submitted via check and send: 23/02/2017
Passport interview: 09/03/2017
PASSPORT RECEIVED: 13/03/2017

Overall timeline of under 4 months, very good going I think, this thread has been invaluable as despite being a fairly straightofrward process, it has a been a long one due to difficulties with the South African authorities with regard to documentation etc. However, we are there so none of it matters, I'll check back from time to time and happy to help anyone else out or answer questions. Good luck to you all.

Thank you

Hi,

Her South African passport was returned along with the letter of approval from the Home Office. I think you can request docs back sooner but we didn't.

My timeline:-

24/01/2017 Sent off application
25/01/2017 Received by Home Office
27/01/2017 Ceremony fee taken
1/02/2017 - Acknowledgement letter received
4/02/2017 - Biometrics completed
26/04/2017 - Application successful letter received
(Didn't receive letter for invitation to ceremony so had to ring up council myself and book it)
07/06/2017 - Ceremony and certificate received.

So glad this is finally over! Now on to the Passport :D

Good luck anyone on this journey x

Hello guys! hows everyone doing? I hope ur all well :).
I am planning to send my application next month and i am a little concern about some information that is being asked in the form.

I am particularly concern about the statement i read at the UKF form guideline, it reads:

Page 1.33 to 1.45 - Details of your paternal grandparents(s), husband, residence in the United Kingdom.

These section only needs to completed where the information is relevant to whether you would have become a British citizen through your father if you parents had been married etc.

Taking that statement above into consideration, am i going to complete that mentioned section in the UKF form considering my parents were unmarried. This had been bothering me for quite sometime. Your reply would be much appreciated. Thank you guys

I wanted to thank everyone. All the posts have been very helpful while filling out and mailing the form.
I was born in the US to an American mother and British father who were not married.
Thought I would post my timeline for any other Americans looking for advice in their process.

7th June: Package sent from Cleveland
9th June: Package signed for in Liverpool
14th June: Email confirmation from HO saying the process had begun
20th June: Email inviting me to contact UKVI New York for them to assist me in creating an appointment in Cleveland to do my biometrics
5th July: Biometric appointment in Cleveland

I'll try to update every step !

Sorry for the late response po. On my application before i fill up 1.33 to 1.41 only. I asked my Dad regarding my grandparents details. Hope this will help you.

@bhebijean_04

Unfortunately my father was long been deceased. The only details i have regarding my paternal grand parents are their names which by the way are also indicated in my father's British birth certificate, do you think that would suffice?
