Post by dmh » Sun Feb 19, 2017 11:48 am

If you would like to receive updates from the EU's Citizen's Taskforce group please contact the following email: xxxxxxx

INITIATIVES SO FAR:

- We have submitted written parliamentary questions:
http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/get ... anguage=EN

http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/get ... anguage=en The European Commission did not respect the official deadline for an answer to this question, which was 13th of February, but have promised to reply in a week to ten days. In case they fail to do so, the question will be included for debate at the next meeting of the Committee for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs (LIBE) in March.

- We have written a letter to the Commissioner Jourova:
http://www.jeanlambertmep.org.uk/wp-con ... ebsite.pdf

- We have written a letter to Mrs Theresa May:
http://www.sophieintveld.eu/letter-to-p ... ister-may/

- We have submitted a request for the European Commission to give a statement before the European Parliament in the plenary session in March: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/get ... anguage=EN The majority of political groups have expressed their support for our request.

- There will be a public hearing at the end of March, organised by three parliamentary committees: LIBE (Civil Liberties, Justice, Home Affairs), EMPL (Employment and Social Affairs) and PETI (Petitions). We intend to invite the UK government, other governments of EU countries where UK citizens encounter difficulties, the European Commission and a couple of people who wrote to us and who are willing to share their story in public. More information will be provided soon.

- We have prepared the following Q&A as regards the rights of EU nationals in the UK:
http://www.jeanlambertmep.org.uk/2016/1 ... in-the-uk/

- Sophie in 't Veld has met with the UK Permanent Representation to the EU;

- In the Dutch parliament the D66 party has tabled a parliamentary question urging the Dutch government to contact the UK government and protect the interests of the Dutch citizens:

Question: https://www.tweedekamer.nl/kamerstukken ... 2017D00085
Answer: https://www.tweedekamer.nl/kamerstukken ... 2017D03928

- We have created a working party that will operate like a provisional Task Force. Several MEPs participate:

Catherine Bearder
Seb Dance
Claude Moraes
Jean Lambert
Sophie in 't Veld
Beatriz Becerra

More MEPs from other countries are expected to join soon. At a later stage we hope to create a proper Task Force, by way of single contact point and bringing together all the expertise in order to respond to queries. More initiatives and actions will follow.
We will keep you informed via this mail service.
