ACS Assessment Questions

Post by manumani » Thu Sep 11, 2008 2:10 pm

Hi,
I am getting ready to apply for skills assessment to the ACS and I had a few questions.

My background:

I am an IT professional with an engineering degree in computer science. I have overall 14 years experience, of which the last 5 years have been as a Director - IT Analyst Relations ( a job profile similar to financial analyst relations, but dealing with industry analysts (Gartner, Forrester, IDC etc) rather than financial analysts. The remaining 9 years, I've spent as a developer, module leader, and project leader in various projects, mostly with Oracle / Pro*C / PL/SQL as the technology.

My Questions :

1. In the ACS form, what ASCO code should I put ? Should I put ASCO-1244-11, as a large part my career has been in project management roles, or should I put ASCO-2231-79, as my last 5 years as Director - IT analyst relations does not fall under any of the other categories.

2. Can I put both ASCO codes under evaluation ?

3. Since my last project management experience was 5 years ago, can I be rejected under ASCO-1244-11?

4. Is there any format for the employer reference letter ? Can I get a letter from my HR department with the projects, technology and my roles & responsibilities listed, or does the letter have to be from my immediate supervisor in each of the projects ?

5. Finally, under "SUMMARY OF RELEVANT EXPERIENCE AND POSITIONS HELD", for the MODL nomination field, Computing Professional - specialising in Oracle is a MODL. Can I claim this even though my last work experience in Oracle was 5 years ago ?
