How does the home office calcuate days of absence from the uk for the purpose of awarding citizenship? For example, if I leave the country on the 1st and come back on the 3rd, how many days was I away?

Annex B: The residence requirements wrote:2.2 Only whole days' absences should be counted (see s. 50(10)(b) of BNA 1981). The dates of departure and arrival are not to be counted as absences
