Name difference between degree certificate & passport

Hi
In degree certificate my last name has only the initials(first letter of my father name) where as in the passport my lastname is my father's name. Will there be any problem while applying. If there, how to resolve this?

You could mention this in the main covering letter that the surname has been expanded in the passport.
