Citizenship route

Post by hypermutley » Sat Jan 08, 2011 6:34 pm

Hi, hope someone here can help with my query.

I am non-EU, hubby is EU so i was on eu spouse visa. Hubby was born in the UK and now has UK passport as well. I remained a EU spouse and now applied and have got the PR after 5 years as EU spouse.

UKBA website says
Immigration time restrictions
You must be free from immigration time restrictions when you apply for naturalisation. Unless you are married to or the civil partner of a British citizen, you should have been free from immigration time restrictions during the last 12 months of the residential qualifying period

So we think this means i can apply for citizenship straight away. Are we right? Or because i got the PR through the EU route i have to have that 12 month period?

Advise appreciated. Thanks

If your spouse/civil partner is a British citizen and you have PR (2(1)), then you may be eligible now.
