Ambiguity in Tier 1 general - dependant Maintenant funds

Post by kkrisjoy » Thu Feb 10, 2011 11:15 am

Hi,

there is an ambiguity in the dependant visa application guide
If a family member applies separately from the Tier 1 Migrant, there must still be enough funds to support each member of the family. Therefore in the example above, if the family has a third child, the main applicant has been in the United Kingdom for two years and the family applies for leave to remain for the third child separately, they must provide evidence that they have an additional £533 in available funds.
Iam living in london for 3 years now - but am confused if I have to show £533 or £1333 for my wife who is applying separately in march 2011

Some of the members in this forum have mentioned £1333

but When I enquired VFS, they said its £533

I have only £533 in the first 10 days after which I have got £1333+

Please guide me - if its safe to apply for dependant visa or believe what VFS guys told.

thanks,
Krish

It is £533 if the main applicant is in the UK for more than 12 months.

It is very clearly mentioned in the UKBA guidelines. You should show £533 as maintainance fund for your wife.

so I need not show £800 for me since I am applying separately for my wife - that's good to hear :)

But, it doesn't make sense that I show only maintenance funds for my dependant when I don't show maintenance fund of £800 for me

That's what confusing me :(
