Beware Scams!!!

Post by EU_lawyer » Sun Sep 11, 2011 12:00 pm

It has been brought to our attention that there is an email scam circulating that purports to be from the Home Office and inviting you to apply for work in the UK. The email contains an invitation to purchase certain documents which do not exist. This is simply a scam. Please do not respond to these emails.

If in doubt about the content of an email that appears to have been sent by the Home Office or the UK Border Agency, please email them a copy of the message for confirmation at:

UKBApublicenquiries@ukba.gsi.gov.uk

Part of the scam email is reproduced below to show what to watch out for:

"• You would need to be registered for a ‘’FOREIGN AFFARIRS CERTIFICATION’’. With this certification, you would be entitled to all the government benefits which a normal citizen and of the UK has e.g free medical attention for health problems, free anti-natal care for
pregnant women e.t.c. [NO SUCH DOCUMENT IS REQUIRED OR ISSUED]
• An EU certificate from the Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) must be applied for you here in London, so as for the Certificate to be sent to your designated address alongside with other documentations which would be processed. [NO SUCH DOCUMENT IS REQUIRED OR ISSUED]

These documentations you would have to show to the UK Boarder upon arrival here at the UK.

* The cost for the processing and preparations are stated below;

EU-Citizens who don’t require a work permit:
Foreign Affairs Certification - £120.25
National Insurance Number (NIN) (If you don’t have any) - £55.25

EU-Citizens who require a work permit (Bulgaria & Romania):
Foreign Affairs Certification - £120.25
Residence Work Permit Fees (Includes NIN) - £390.50
Her Majesty’s Revenue & Customs (HMRC) EU Certificate - £135.15
Total: £545.90

The fees are to be sent to below named Accounting Officer of the UK Boarder Agency through the means of Western Union, as we do not accept credit cards/bank-to-bank transfers/cheques & Money Orders, due to past fraudulent activities that have been done with the companies account.
After the payment has been made, you are to send back to us as an email attachment, the scanned copy of the payment receipt.
