Switching from PSW to Tier-2 General

Post by SPG » Thu Nov 03, 2011 8:49 pm

Hi,

Currently I am on Tier-1 PSW Visa valid until March 2013.
Knowing that Tier-1 General is closed and won't be open again, I wish to switch to Tier-1 General Visa on/before March 2013.

Following is my recent work status:
I am working as Systems Developer, full-time contractor for a Goverment Company.
I have got this job offer through the agency named ABC.
I am an employee of an Umbrella company named XYZ and contracting through this company. XYZ is generating invoices for me and my salary slips are also generated by them
So the flow is Govt. Company -> ABC -> XYZ -> Me.

In order to get Tier-2 General Visa, I have to have a sponsorship letter from my sponsorer. In the above senario, who can sponsor my visa?

Also, from the point of getting Tier-2 General Visa, what will be the best option from below:
1. Getting a permanent job
2. Working in Umbrella Company
3. Opening own Limited Company

My contract with NHS is about to finish in December and I need to choose the best option from above onces because I need to work for minimum 6 months in order to get sponsorship letter.
Please help me to clarify these queries.
Thank you.

Regards,
SPG

Not an option under Tier 2.

under tier 2 scheme, u CANNOT be self employed

so its definitely not your company that can sponsor you!

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
I understand that self-employment is not the option for me.
My question is which will be better option from below:
1. Getting a permanent job
2. Working in Umbrella Company (not a limited company)

Thank you.

can it be possible to get both of the letter from your sponser (XYZ) or (ABC)?

what are the differences between them (a permanent job and working in umbrella company?) It seems like they are a permanent job - -!
