ILR for WP holder: charity worker

Post by SabitaR » Wed Nov 23, 2011 12:42 pm

Hi All,

I'm on a Work Permit that ends Feb 2012 and I plan to apply for my ILR in mid Jan (no earlier than 28 days before the expiry) in person.
I work for a charity and thus my salary is lower than those for corporate employees in a similar job role. My worry is that if the SOC code I have matched to my job description doesn't work (the code doesn't quite fit my role as is) in my application and I have to use another, I may not make the appropriate salary requirement.
Thus, I wonder if anyone knows:
a) if there is a salary allowance made for people working in the charitable sector?
b) if there is a contact for the Home Office to call regarding SOC codes?

Many thanks.

See also Q - I'm a WP migrant. Neither is my job / occupation listed in the COP nor is there an equivalent job in the COP that I can determine for my current role. Can I apply for settlement?
Life isn't fair, but you can be!

Thanks.
Just another quick one: if my ILR application is rejected before my visa runs out, then do I only have until my visa expiry to leave the country?
