P60 missing? Don't worry - there is a solution

Post by kagan 1 » Sat Jun 12, 2010 9:28 am

I had one of my p60 was missing as well. I called my previous company and asked for it but they could not provide it. So I contacted HMRC and asked them whether they can provide any substitute or anything similar and they did.

They called this as "Employment History". On this form there are columns like PAYE Reference/Pay/Tax/Start Date/End Date. You make sure tell them that you need all this information/data on this letter.

I had one of the letter with me when I went to Croydon and they accepted it. But bare in mind that it takes good 1-2 weeks to get one. Never leave it to last minute.

I hope it will help everyone as well.

yes, that correct. HMRC letters showing your tax return details for the years will substitue the P60. I have asked HMRC to send my all 5years tax returns in separate letters for 5 years with all detail in it and I got those letters within 4 days and submitted those instead of P60 in Croydon PEO and they have accepted it.

The numbers that you can call and ask this info might be:
0191 213 5000 or 0191 225 5996. even they do not know they might direct you to correct department or give the number.

the form will cover years requested such as 2005-2006 period etc and it will cover the each employment.

give them a call and see.

I got a similar "employment history" letter from HMRC this week - within 4 days of requesting it. Just hang up and call again. Tell them you need the P60 for the particular tax year and they will send you the "employment history" letter.

You can try ringing 0191 2037178.

FYI, thought I'd add this bit in here. The NI number to call if you want a statement of the NI contributions made in your name by your employer or yourself is: 0845 302 1479.

I am getting both the HMRC and NI statements sent to me. Only required a phone call to each number and proving my ID on the phone (date of birth, address etc).

Just to note on this - 0191 2037178 doesn't work, 0191 213 5000 the person said I had to submit a letter in writing asking, but I called 0845 3000 627 just now and they said they'll send out a letter today.
