Stamp 4 for Mom of Irish born child/wife of naturalize Irish

Post by alegalalien » Fri Dec 13, 2013 12:16 pm

Hi All,

My wife currently hold Stamp 3 and I hold stamp 4.
We will have an Irish born child and a few months later I soon become naturalized Irish.
By the expiry date of my wife Stamp 3 (which is same date as my Stamp 4), which stamp 4 my wife should apply for ?
- stamp 4 as a mother of the Irish born child
- or stamp 4 as a wife of the Irish citizen ?

What are the duration of those Stamp 4 in each case ?

Thank you.
Alien.

I do not think that there is much difference.

Stamp as the mother of Irish citizen child is renewable until the child is an adult, so this would be my preference. The parent of an Irish child has a very strong right to remain in Ireland.

If I were you I would ask the immigration service what is the cost of each type of application. There may be a difference in cost.

It would be for one year.

You MAY have to obtain permission from the INIS and then change to a stamp 4 at the GNIB.

(i) Zambrano - on the basis of the child

OR

(ii) spouse of Irish National
