Chances of getting h1-b with my education/experience?

Post by greenkomodo » Mon Feb 10, 2014 1:16 am

I achieved a 2:1 in BSc Information and Communications Technology and I have 18 months experience in the field I want to go into (IT Support).

Do I even stand a chance of getting a company to sponsor me for a job? I'm looking at Virginia or DC as that's where I have relations.

Thanks for any advice.

If you are already in the US then i don't see any problems finding a sponsor (though its quite hard). if you are applying from your home country then you will be subject to quotas and skills.

Its worth speaking to your employer for H1 sponsorship if they have operations in the US. The general expectation is 36-48 months of relevant work experience but If yours is a niche skill then less experience is also considered.
