On the application for a green card it asks the employer what are the credential for the prospective non eea employee.

you have to include original passport no copies allowed.

Finally the status on my application has changed to "being checked" - hope to get the passport soon - unless I am missing something.

I have sent my application to them on the 14th of July, received on the 15th of July, and still at the received status today the 30th of July 2014.

No you wont miss the ceremony, it also take one month from the time you send them the money to receive the invitation. Well it took one month in my case after I sent them the money.
