Re: New citizenship form UKF

Well everyone, I'm pretty much signing off. I got my passport yesterday, so I'm all wrapped up (or, nearly- but I'll get to that in a minute). Here are my details... sept 30- UKF app sent from Canada. oct 2nd - received, liverpool. oct 12- payment taken. dec 1st(?)- biometrics invitation letter ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Did anyone who went through the passport faze notice the online application was geared towards your maternal information (and whether your parents were wed)? I started filling it out, and felt like I needed to explain the UKF stuff in the 'additional info' boxes... That all seem right/normal to ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Yeah, they just said something similar... Finally had a reply from Home Office this morning stating that in fact they sent my 'documents' (what I presume is the certificate) towards Toronto on 'March 12th', and said it could take 8-12 weeks for the delivery of those documents, which makes no sense ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

My situation continues as well... Waited the 6 weeks after the approval letter for a ceremony invitation, but it never came. So I emailed the address given in the letter about 2 weeks ago, but haven't heard a peep yet. Tried emailing the FurtherInquiries address yesterday and got an immediate stock ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Well, I hit my 6 week mark after receiving the approval letter yesterday. So I emailed the support address, as it stipulates in the letter, but nothing from Home Office or the Consulate here in Toronto yet... Here we go... Ironically, I was sent an email by them asking me to fill out a survey about ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

I have a feeling something similar to that is what's going to happen for me (g_barrie_g). I'm at 4 weeks now since the 'acceptance' letter. So, another 2 before I can email and then... who knows? Maybe they get back in a day, maybe a week, maybe not within the allotted time to do the ceremony. This ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

I hope it's as quick and painless as you say, keji! Thanks. I may have to wait a bit before I get on with that stage though. Today made three weeks since my acceptance letter was dated, so I have to wait another 3 before I can inquire about the citizenship ceremony. Hopefully I get a call before ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Hi Canabrit The passport process is actually very straight forward and so quick. All you need is your parents passport number (if known), your registration of British Citizenship certificate, a full colour copy of your non-british passport, 2 photographs and a proof of residence of address. You ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Hey JJL (and whomever has already been successful), What was the passport process? I'm still waiting to hear about a ceremony, but I thought I'd look into the passport thing in case there's a lot of prep. After a bit of googling, it seemed like all avenues led to an online application through the ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Well, I feel almost guilty given how long a few others have had to wait, but I received the letter of 'successful application' today. It took (for timeline purposes) almost 20 weeks, or a little short of 5 calendar months. They returned a couple more of my docs with it, but still forgot one. So, I'm ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

They gave me back about half my documents with the biometrics letter, which was at the start of December. The rest I'm hoping they haven't lost and I'll get them back if/when I ever get an acceptance letter. But we'll see!

I suppose no news for you this week, bfrenchfry?

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Great! Thanks. That's kinda what I figured... So, fret not, NJProfessor. As I was saying in one of my last posts, it seems like Home Office is starting to move through things in a more orderly fashion. People in the UK tend to go through quicker regardless, but some of the other acceptances lately ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Congrats keji!! It seems things continue to move along incrementally. Excluding those in the uk who seem to zip along a little faster, by my watch this means they're now up to dealing with applicants (outside the uk) who did their biometrics at the tail-end of November. I would thus wager (and hope ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Congrats to everyone scooting through! It's nice to see some movement happening. Even Antsmall was able to finally do biometrics. I personally have no news to offer, though am hoping (like most, I'm sure) that this latest flurry of activity means the backlog is being sorted out. That said, looking ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Completed Biometrics today! I think bfrenchfry was indeed a trail blazer at the Toronto office, because they didn't seem confused at all. I was worried they'd get stuck on wanting a visa checklist, but as soon as they saw the UKF letter, they promptly took it (along with my passport), and went into ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Good stuff, Thanks for the update, bfrenchfry. We actually missed each other by a hair- I'm next tuesday in Toronto. Hopefully they'll be a little less confused next time. And I'll definitely show up early. Question for you- when you went through the whole vfsglobal thing, did you have to put ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Hi canabrit. Vfs global website is weird. From what you have written everything seems OK. I had the same issues (overseas citizenship) n stress myself out unnecessary. Don't worry you should be fine. Seems like they're sending that "exceptional complex issues" letter to every1. Just trying to cover ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Funnily enough, Just a day after receiving confirmation of application (prompted by my consulate), I received the brown envelope. So, I've scheduled a biometrics appointment -I hope I did this right. The website is weird, and only has options for visas or overseas citizenship. Does this sound right ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

No news is.... no news? So, I took JJL's advice and tried to get the Brit consulate to send a word to the home office in the hopes of speeding up the process, or at least getting my documents back in the interim. First, I emailed. I received an automated response back, which offered nothing helpful ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Hi guys. So I posted recently saying I applied in South Africa, and received my documents and biometrics notice back within a month of the ceremony fee being deducted. Some advice on getting documents back quickly, is to contact your British consulate in the country you are applying from and ask ...

Re: New citizenship form UKF

Hi everyone, Been reading about your plights for about a week and thought it was high time I joined in on the pain. And like many others, I must say I'm very happy to have found you guys, as it is somehow relieving to know you're all out there and we're in this bureaucratic nightmare together. Okay ...
