After Tier 1 Approval -- Continuation of work

I have got my Tier 1 (general) approval today, but I haven't resigned from my current work yet ( held Work Permit),

1. can I continue to work for the same employer who has sponsored my WP?
2. Will I have to inform the employer abt my status (WP -> tier 1) ?

Thanks
