Sorry, gani. I guess I should have said 'citizenship' instead of 'permanent residence'. Spanish citzenship would then allow me the treaty rights, no? In any case, I misinterpreted that spanish residence would allow me free working movement in the EU zone. I guess it doesnt. Thanks for the ...

I dont want to speak for France, but I know in my case with Spain, I am not able to work outside the area I obtained the work permit in until after 1 year. After 1 year, I can then excercise the work permit anywhere in Spain, but not outside of Spain. I can only excercise the work permit in other EU ...

If you are young, which Im guessing you are, just go wash dishes in a bar or something. Terrible work but its really the only type of work you can really do that places will hire you without papers I think. Another good option, again if you are young, look at trying to work at hostels. Their staffs ...

The best and safest way to enter an EU country (if you are are non EU) is to get a job offer. This is of course is much easier said than done but its the only realistic way insofar as I can see of actually picking up and moving to an EU country with the intention of being there permanently. You ...

Why dont you just take the eurostar to Brussels or Paris and fly from there. I swear those guys looking at the passports upon entry into mainland europe give hardly a glance at your passport.

belgium is a very interesting place to live: not only you have a multi-lingual society, there's soo much different geo and historical areas, all within a short drive, and most people also speak englsih, or can at least help you. And Leffe, Duvel, Chimay..... I would second all this. I lived in ...

I have direct experience of Germany - four and half months.......... Thanks guys. I think wander's experience of 4.5 months sounds pretty reasonable....if one was to take an 'average'. My application is with Spain, in Andalucia. I was speaking to a friend who is a immigration lawyer in Spain but in ...

I think the bottom line is just getting someone to hire you...in hopefully the country in the EU zone of your preference. However, beggers cant really be choosers in this case. Once you get a job offer, then a sponsored work permit can be obtained and then you can be on your way to permanently ...

EU zone work permit wait times (company sponsored)

Just curious if anyone here has any experience with this. I know it varies from country to country (I would assume longer processing times as you move further south) but I havent encountered anyone here who has direct experience with it. Of course it also depends on the person's professional ...

As far as I know, Norway is not an EU country. So I think you'd have to jump through all the Norway specific ropes, and not EU ones, to get started there. Unless of course Norway has some kind of agreement with the EU about workers rights...which it may...but at the same time still manage to keep ...

It's irrelevant what the requirements are at other Schengen embassies. If they are going to Spain, they have to get their ...

Ive had to obtain two shengen visas in my life thus far. One for Spain, and one for Belgium. I will shortly need to obtain another for Spain. In both of my cases, I phoned the consulate ahead of time and told them my situation and asked exactly what documents I would need for the visa (even though ...

This thread is interesting. Ive just skimmed it mostly. What I really dont understand about these large EU countries of continental Europe (France, Spain, Germany, Italy..etc.) is the difficulty in obtaining proper papers to live and work in them. Like I know they are all quite xenophobic to a ...
