You go in and basically they take a photo of you and scan you fingers, similar to when you travel through the USA. Its pretty straight forward and only took me about 10 minutes, spent more time in the reception waiting for my appointment time to come up.

Good news, if other countries won't offer reciprocal agreements to UK nationals they shouldn't be allowed in. Also its good they increased the time allowed to 24 months.
