Have all February applicants here requested the sponsors passport back yet? Myself and a few others here have done that and our visas have then been processed a month after. Worth a shot if you haven't already. Is that a tricky way to get the visa quickly ? It may just be coincidence but several ...

Re: the wait is over

Our documents were delivered this morning and surprisingly a courier knocked at the door at lunch time to deliver the BRP. So, after 7 months the visa has arrived and life can move on. My only suggestion like others have posted previously is to request the sponsors passport back. I did this on 20th ...

I just phoned the UKBA and they said they've posted something to me by Royal Mail Recorded Delivery. The advisor said it was probably the return of documents but she can't tell on her screen apparently. In disbelief at the moment as we applied back on 16th February. I'll update when I know more ...

passport

Hi Kshah,

Just to let you know, my passport turned up today therefore yours should turn up shortly.

The letter just states that a copy has been retained with the application and I won't need to return it unless a caseworker requires it.

Re: waiting and waiting and waiting!

One of the things I often wonder is if the UKBA scrutinise certain applications more closely than others, based solely on the applicant's nationality. It might explain why some applications are processed in just a couple of months, while others are dragged out for six or more. Hi Ken2mj, I've often ...

My husband and I were discussing this last night - considering that the UKBA requires a current (no more than 3 months) passport photo, perhaps the people who have waited for months and months on end would expect a request for new photos before any decision is made? I'm in the same boat as you guys ...

Hi everyone, I'm one of those January/February black hole applications. It's been more than 6 months since my documents were sent in and 5 months post-biometrics appointment. 2222 - Don't worry you're not alone! Maybe we're assigned to the same donkey caseworker, who knows. My timeline : Date ...

Re: My timeline + a question (or two!)

Just thought I'd share my timeline here, seems like I'm in the same boat as a lot of you guys! Application sent: 6 July Acknowledgement letter received: 19 July Biometrics: Not received yet as of 3 September One problem I have is that I'm moving house in about two weeks - I sent a letter to the ...

The longest wait

Hi Kshah,

I haven't received my passport back yet, hopefully it will turn up next week. As there was a bank holiday this week I presume many staff would have taken an extended weekend so it doesn't surprise me it hasn't turned up.

I'll post a message when I receive it.

waiting

Hi kshah, When I requested my passport back I didn't get a reference number. I asked them to post it to my work address and they took the address details and put a note on their system that I needed my passport urgently. The lady said the standard guidelines are 20 working days to receive the ...

It's a terrible situation, denying people the right to integrate into UK society. You wouldn't think we were in the year 2012 the way we are being treated by the UKBA. I called them this morning to request my passport back as I'm the sponsor and I don't agree that they should hold onto my ID for ...

Congrats allymcb, you must be relieved. It would be good to understand why the UKBA doesn't necessarily process earlier applications first as has been mentioned above, there are people on the forum who have applied a lot earlier. The number of applications confirmed here - http://www.whatdotheyknow ...

I agree BoBoBo, in this life if you don't ask you don't get. Does anyone know, if you want to move from your current residency whether it affects your case at all? I understand theres a webpage where you can change your correspondance address: https://contact-ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/aboutus/contact ...

6 months

So today is the 6 month mark since we applied for the visa and it still feels no closer to reality. We've written to our MP who has provided us with a generic letter response from the UKBA so really there isn't much else we can do. We've faxed and written for an update today as calling only seems to ...

In our case, my landlord covers all the bills in the flat i.e. council tax, gas, electric, water and this is specified in the tenancy agreement and confirmed in emails from landlord which we've included in our application so hopefully this won't be a problem. The UKBA want proof that the applicant ...

I emailed my local MP, who has since written to the UKBA to investigate our case as I've been waiting since 13th February. I got a letter back yesterday from my MP with a letter attached from the UKBA. The letter says that unless there is a campassionate reason for the Visa to be looked at by a case ...

In the same boat too. It's getting quite unbearable. My wife and I want to move asap to get away from our noisy neighbours. Does anyone think if we move and then re-direct all our post from the Royal Mail to our new address so when we do finally get an answer, it would be okay? Or when the UKBA do ...

To badger111

The NHS is free for everybody, you don't need an NI number for that.

You can enroll at your local doctors who will give you an NHS number.

Hi,

Hope it's by biometrics date as mine was done on March 23rd. Applied 13th Feb.

Wishful thinking maybe!

Good luck all and keep the faith (somehow!)

I agree, the government have well and truly made a stupid decision in cutting jobs especially in the Olympic year when they knew applications would no doubt increase and pressure would be on at the airports. Still waiting, applied on 17th February and done the biometrics on 23rd March.

The waiting game is getting very boring indeed for all of us.
