Granted ILR but old BRP/Residency card still says family member of EU citizen

Hi, I was recently granted ILR (January 2022) after having lived in the UK for 5+ years. I'm married to a UK citizen and we came to the UK after having legally lived in Spain as residents. We used the Surinder Singh route and I was given an EU family member residency status in England, even if I'm ...

Re: Help with SS new questionnaire to home office

I took a day to fill it out carefully and was pretty honest about my situation. I suppose I included more information than they normally recommend but my application was successful :) If you have any questions when you are filling it out just ping me on here and i can try to help.

Re: How do HM issue residence cards if passport is returned?

[quote="apriliapegaso28"]Understood, many thanks! And related to this, if we apply and request our passports back, how can we then leave the UK for travelling if the current non-EEA Residence card expires during that period? I asked the doubt a few days ago under a different Topic for making it ...

Re: Help with SS new questionnaire to home office

I also realized they have this question which is strangely worded: If you have never made an application to join or remain with the British citizen in the UK previously, please explain the reason for this. I was lawfully living and working in the UK when we began a relationship. I did apply for a ...

Help with SS new questionnaire to home office

I applied for a visitor family permit in July 2016 using the Surinder Singh route and was granted a FP to travel to the UK for six months. I'm an American citizen who was resident in Spain with my UK husband and normally could have travelled from Spain to the UK without a travel family permit but I ...

[quote="frustratedbrit"]It sounds to me that your funding status drives everything. Re: Help with Surinder Singh Route

Hi Hamza,

Sorry for the long wait on the reply! They accepted my FP and now I am about to apply for SS again but this time to the home office from within the UK. It seems like organizing the docs with color coding in folders worked well! Thank you for all of your help.

Best,
Meredith

Re: EEA Family permit online application-SS route HELP PLEAS

Hamza-- I have a question! I submitted my application and now they have asked me to go to Madrid for a visa appointment. I thought I didn't have to attend an appointment with the family permit? Did I apply for the wrong visa?

Re: EEA Family permit online application-SS route HELP PLEAS

I also got rid of the Surinder Singh mention and did this for my additional information: I met my husband in the UK while I was living and working in London. We lived together there for over a year and then travelled for several months before moving to our current home in Spain. We were married in ...

Re: EEA Family permit online application-SS route HELP PLEAS

OK very good to know-- Instead of a cover letter I am submitting an index of supported documents included. I've put them in four categories based on what they show -- relationship status, worker status, co-residency and center of life. Instead of using those headers I put colored tabs on them (so ...

Re: EEA Family permit online application-SS route HELP PLEAS

Thank you so much for answering! So I should say that I am being sponsored by a person and then fill out my husband's details there? I feel like I have filled out his information a thousand times in one application -- once under my family details, a second under the EEA person details and now again ...

Re: Help with Surinder Singh Route

Hi again so I have all of the SS docs I need gathered and ready but I still have a few questions now that I'm inside the actual online application form. I know this visa route won't be open very much longer given the Brexit decision but I'm assuming I can still apply for a family permit via SS until ...

I'm filling out the same application and I feel like it has taken me ages to get through and that so many of the questions didn't seem to be necessary. Mother of a British Citizen

I'm the mother of a British citizen. I have been accepted at a university in the UK on a paid scholarship and was planning to enter via the Surinder Singh route instead of a Student Visa, so I could have the right to work. However, I'm worried about two things. One is that the UK leaves the EU thus ...

Oh my, so many options! I do have a Spanish residency card but I need a passport to travel now with the new security checks in place. "You can always flit back and forth to Spain to sort things out." I don't need to submit my passport with ...

Re: Help with Surinder Singh Route

One more thing. So I just read the link to the German case someone posted: http://www.immigrationboards.com/general-uk-immigration-forum/study-without-a-visa-t194593.html Here's the interesting bit: "it sounds like you entered the UK under the visa waiver as an American citizen rather than under EU ...
