Guys had my interview today, I was grilled for 1.30hrs, all my questions are framed around my clients and payments I received from them

I am on 50K route and company running on profits

Name & dob
Company name & full address
My experience in current field and business experience
Me and my partner roles in the business
Why my company partner did not apply for extension (Partner is UK Citizen)
Why have I received £XX amount from YYYY client in one month
** Company in profits
How much have I received from each client to get that turnover (this year till April)
How did I approach those clients to get the contracts (this year till April)
Top clients causing my revenue (this year till April)
Asked me to explain a service that I provide (from my website) (this year till April)
How much have I spent on administrative process (this yr till april – they got the amount from accounts I submitted)
Complete breakdown of that administrative expenses
How much have I received from each client to get that turnover (last financial year)
How did I approach those clients to get the contracts (last financial year)
Top clients causing my revenue (last financial year)
Asked me to explain a service that I provide (from my website) (last financial year)
How much have I spent on advertising
Where did I advertise
How much have I invested
Source of Investment
Complete breakdown where I spent my investment (asked me to give figures )
How much my partner did invest (Partner in business from 2006)
How many employees I got
Who are they
When they joined my company
What is the role of each employee

What if my business fails

And few more questions related mostly with my clients , haven’t asked me anything about taxes ans other payments. Will update you guys as soon as I get in my mind.

Our interview looks the same as other but some more question about questions related to your clients and about your net profit,

Received an email calling for an interview on 3rd of September at Harrow VFS - London, does anyone had interview at that location and are we allowed to carry any notes with us inside for interview ??

Then the next post was your interview will be on 2nd September which is tomorrow not today.

Interview completed today in Battleship building in London (no parking on site), it was good one. Questions were same as previously reported by others members here so please go through those and ensure you know your business really well and you are confident to represent it. Interview duration was about 45 minutes. One thing to note is that they are not looking for long, descriptive answers, they just want couple of sentences, key points. People interviewing you are not business educated and just doing it for the sake of the job. Your interview notes will go to case worker and he will review and decide so ensure you can answer to the point and precisely.

N8net,

There was no interrogation, people interviewing had question paper in hand, they were merely sticking to those questions. Questions were prepared by case worker.

Questions were like:

How much were you sales?
What was job title of X employee and their hours?
What is your marketing strategy?
Source of funds?
What is your previous experience?
Where did you spend your funds?
Address and website of business?

And so on, just what has been reported already on this forum.

Experience and questions may vary depending on individual cases but I still do not think they will come hard at you as this is not case worker who is interviewing you but third party, they don't know your case/business, most of the time just ordinary people doing their job.

There should not be any fear and hesitation to face them as they are just taking your answers. Know your business, familiarize with paper work that you submitted and memorize certain figures such as sales, gross profit, expenses, employees related details.

It was video link interview, you will be asked question, you answer and they type, no pressure, no real eye to eye contact, just tick box exercise.

Keep calm, speak slow, as it is highly important that they are able to type key words of your answers and this is what case workers will look at to establish genuineness.

Questions on this forum has already been shared several times by others, sharing interview experience, how it is conducted, what you should be doing was lacking so hopefully this make it easier for future applicants.

I am bit nervous always for interviews, given this is HO with life changing consequences extra nervous and want to be thorough...

we have questions, but not answers for some generic questions, I have created a new topic to have answers as well, it will be useful to for myself and any future applicants, if answers can be provided.

there is no restriction carrying phones inside but its better to ask the interviewer if it is ok to record , few may restrict.

The person who interviewed me is so friendly and I am sure the rest are the same, nervous makes the situation more worse so be confident and I am sure you can answer, 80% questions are same but 20% depends on your case and case worker.

I was allowed to carry my little notes inside and they even allowed me even to calculate the figures if I am not sure.

Not a single question was asked about my tax figures and stuff , it depends on your case mostly.

Thank you for positive remarks. It would certainly clear things up once we hear from those who were interviewed in April, May, June, July time and greatly help others to get an idea how long they should wait. Anyone got better ideas, there is always room for improvement, please jump in.

This delay on outcome of interviews could be part of the reason that HO wants to keep it tight on interview decisions so candidates/solicitors have no idea what actually is this named genuine test. They possibly plan to interview majority and then clear in bulk with Decisions granted/refused.

After having seen so many interview experiences here, it is laughable to say least as how HO judges/tests genuineness. Someone who can answer those Circa 50 questions, perhaps going to be called genuine. To make this whole process of genuineness test even more ridiculous, caseworker/HO representative is not there instead someone else is taking short notes and passing it onto caseworker.

Or it is just a another way to cause as much grief to those who have invested these sizeable amounts into UK economy.

It is worth noting that those who have gone through interview stage, undoubtedly score all points to get Extension, HO to refuse them on basis of these short answers because HO feels that certain applicant did not pass the so called genuine test, HO will have to be really serious and solid in their decisions as court will not spend much of their time to overturn HO decisions.

But so far it remains mystery for some understandable reasons.

I applied for my extension in June 2016 and got Biometric done in first week of July.

I received letter for my interview 2 weeks ago and herewith I am adding questions they asked me during my interview at Birmingham.

3. Nature of your business
4. Company turnover in 2016
5. What is company's address(all)
6. Howmany employees do you have currently?
7. Name your employees
8. Their Job title
9. What is their role?
10. Do you have taken any insurance to cover your employee?
11. Do you have employee liability insurance?
12. Howmany hours they works for you?
13. What is your pension plan for your employee(I said we are working on it as it is compulsory from next year)
14. Do you have inform your local authority that you are running business from home?(No as I though I do not call my employee or client at home so i though no need to use as I work from my laptop and i have not setup any office at home)
15. When did you make your company's website?
16. Howmuch money you have invested?
17. Howmuch you have spent? Break down of that?
18. Name your excellent client in year 2016?
19. 2 Names of your excellent client in year 2015?
20. What you do for your living?(I am withdrawing basic salary & wife also works)
21. Do you have any questions?( I said I want to submit couple of docs and then she gave me the address where to send?

The questions were all about my business and if you know your business than nothing to worry about.

The questions were the same as in previous posts. They obviously have a set of questions that the interviewer asks and then types your answers. The answers I was told will be sent to my case worker. The interviewer didn't know when will a decision be made when I asked him. He was very nice and polite, he said it might be two weeks before I'd get a decision, but it's now nearly 2 months!!! Very frustrating indeed.

But we would appreciate if you could list the questions.
Maybe they missed something that you can remember.

No they didn't miss anything. It appears the questions are standard set of questions looks like a form in a computer infront of the interviewer, he asks you and after you answer he enters your answers next to the asked question. Only advice I can give is know your business very well which any businessperson would do anyways and give precise short answers. Know your accountant name and address, your employees name and job description and experience, know your rough income/expenditure figures for the last year etc. As I said see the previous posts they list the questions asked which are exactly the same. It might, however, vary a little bit when you start talking about your own business experience your future plans, the interviewer might ask further small questions based on your answers. But it's nothing you won't be able to answer. Be confident, concise, friendly, and answer all questions in clear slow voice allowing the interviewer time to type your answers. As I mentioned earlier, the interviewer has nothing to do with the decision making; he/she will only collect and forward your answers to your caseworker. Good luck everyone.

Thats it from bank statements , rest are all related to my clients , how much I have been paid by clients and for what services, etc. They even asked me to explain elaborately a service that I mentioned on my website. I posted all my questions here in my previous posts , but if anyone else need let me know I will repost them.

2. What was the turnover in each business?
3. What experience do you have for these businesses?
4. How much did you invest and what was the source of this investment?
5. How did you spend your investment?
6. Address of the business?
7. Who is the accountant?
8. What is his address?
9. How many employees do you have in s..... (sole proprietor business)
10 How many hours do they work?
11 What is hourly rate paid to these employees?
12 Do you pay/registered for pension scheme?
13. Who is A...... (had one company that I had dissolved and A.... was the other director)
14. How much did you invest in this business?
15.what is the gross profit and net profit?

Just as everyone previously said nothing to worry about but I know once you get the letter you wont be able sleep.
