2nd extension

Hi, one of my friend have to apply for 2nd tier1 extension due to late entry (after 90days) in uk.
My questions are

As he is short of about 40 days from ILR,how long visa he will be given 1year? or about 6months ?

As soon he completes his shortfall (40days) can he apply for ILR right after? or he has to wait till the visa expries?

Visa will be given 3 yrs or 2 yrs depends on case worker.

Once he finished that 40days he can apply for ILR.
