New baby born - Do I need dependent visa for the baby?

Post by tigercov » Tue Mar 03, 2015 11:18 am

I am due to apply for ILR in 3 weeks and I have a new baby born last week. Can you please advise if I need to mention the baby as a dependent and pay full adult fee for the same? Obviously I haven't got the passport for the baby yet. My wife is on the dependent visa.

Thanks

If the baby was born in the UK, you can skip ILR etc and apply for British citizenship registration on form MN1 under section 1(3) as soon as you get your ILR BRP.

Yes, baby was born in the UK last week.

I have downloaded the SET O form. It asks for dependant's information. Is the baby not dependent? and if the baby is dependent then don't I need to pay the fees while apply for ILR? OR Are you saying that I don't mention baby in the ILR application form?

Sorry for the naive questions but I don't want to make any silly mistakes.

There's no requirement for a UK-born child to apply for leave to remain.
