Tier 1 General Extension and council tax rebate

Post by tigercov » Fri Jan 23, 2015 4:21 pm

Hello

I am on tier 1 general extension visa and due to apply for ILR very soon. I recently purchased a house and applied for single residency discount for council tax. I know that I have no recourse to public funds but I have learnt that this rebate is a form of govt. benefits. What do I need to do now? Does claiming this discount disqualifies me from applying for ILR?

What would you advise?

Thanks

Hi Mate.

No this will not affect your ILR, its a rule if you are living alone you can apply for single user discount.

Its like a medical exemption card from NHS, where the patient dont require to pay anything for prescription but its not count as a benefit.

Hope this helps.
Kind Regard,
A.Khan
