Tier 2 ICT Short Term to Tier 1 General

Post by Keyan » Tue Jul 29, 2014 11:10 pm

Hi There,

Currently I am in London on a Tier 2 ICT Short term Visa.
I would like to extend my duration here in UK and keen to know how to get the Tier 1 General visa.

1. Is tat possible to move from Tier 2 ICT ST to Tier 1 General.
2.If so How?
3. Is there any other Visa category which allow me to work here apart from Tier 2 ICT.

Thanks,
Keyan

Tier 1 General has been closed to new applicants for several years.

You can look at Tier2 General as an option. Read more on UKVI webpage and also on the Tier2 General section of the forum in this board.

Hi wf/O_Relly,

Can you please confirm, if the applications for Tier 1 General has been closed.
As per ADDENDUM - Tier 1 General

IMPORTANT NOTES
1) Tier 1 (General) is closed to overseas applicants. Applications from people who are not
already in the UK with leave in a category that permits switching into Tier 1 (General) will no longer be
accepted. Dependents can still apply to join applicants who have obtained prior entry clearance for Tier
1 General.
2) With effect from 6 April 2015, Tier 1 (General) will close and applications to extend leave will no
longer be accepted. Applicants who are currently in the UK and who wish to apply to extend their stay
must submit an application on or before 5 April 2015
.
3) With effect from 6 April 2018, applications for indefinite leave to remain will no longer be
accepted in the Tier 1 (General) category. Applicants who are currently in the UK and who wish to
apply for indefinite leave to remain must submit an application on or before 5 April 2018.

Any help/advice on this topic will be much appreciated.

Thanks,
Yazaf

There no longer exists any category of visa that is allowed to switch into Tier (G).

I have to augment what I've said, after doing a bit of research. It is possible to switch into Tier 1(G) from a Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa, which still currently exists (though it is very rarely applied for and even more rarely given).
