applying psw when dissertation is submitted

Hi all
my sister is writing MBA dissertation, her tier 4 visa is expiring on 31 January 2012. her dissertation submission date is also in january.
Can she apply for PSW after submitting the dissertation and result awaiting. we dont wana spend money on another student extension.

You can't apply for PSW unless and until the degree has been awarded . Applying before this is not possible.

According to the policy guidance: Until the dissertation has been assessed, graded and the final result announced, your sister cannot claim to have obtained a "qualification".

But this recent judgement seems to suggest that if your sister applies before her current leave expires and meets the requirements (on of which is that she obtains a relevant qualification) on the day of consideration / decision, then she should be okay.
