Each time I call / enquire UKVI say "the application is under processing while additional enquiry is being conducted".
10th June 2014 update: Got a phone call from UK Visa and Immigration (UKVI) office in Abu Dhabi who asked a few basic questions like motive of the move and where I intend to stay in UK. The lady officer said the decision will be made the same day or the following day.

Let's say the decision is made on 10th itself, when will they send the Passports back to VFS? Please share experience in number of days of receiving passport after the day decision was made. Any UAE specific timelines would be even more appreciated.
11th June 2014 update: Got e-mail from: 3G Un-Cleared <abdhaVisaInfo@fco.gov.uk>

"Your application has been resolved and will shortly be returned to our commercial partner. This does not mean that your documents are ready to collect: Please await confirmation of this, or follow the collection instructions you have already been given."

I think by commercial partner they mean VFS Abu Dhabi. Hopefully all this info will valuable for those sailing in the same boat.

Got the visas after seemingly endless wait and all the frustration!! :-)

Is this usual for ECO to take this long to 'access' an application?how long will it take them to actually assess an application? Some reassurance will be highly appreciated.

Hi black pearl

Thanks for posting the reply. Congratulations on getting your visa.

Can you please tell me that what happened with your application as in you have received it back after a month, what was that thing you mentioned previously about the Eco assessment? Please let me know.

Did you receive any updates during your application like SMS / email updates? Please let me know and is it Islamabad which processed your application?

Regards

Day

Hi,

Can someone please let me know whether they have recently submitted Tier 2 visa application in Pakistan and how long is it taking for the BHC to give the visa?

Do we get updates on our application or do we just get contacted by Gerrys when our passport is ready for collection? please let me know as I have not received any updates or text messages after visa submission

I did not receive any automatic updates. I used to fill out the online email form and would receive reply in two days.
My application was processed in Islamabad and I think they count the number of days after submission of application and biometrics as apposed to online submission of form.
I only received an email informing me that my application has been processed and next day I received a phone call advising me when and how to collect the documents/passport.

Hi

Thanks for your response

Did you receive an email from Vfs or Abu Dhabi?

And what do you mean that they count the days from the submission of the documents? Can you please advise how many working days it should be before they send the passport back?

Hi starvin_marvin,

How do you choose for Fast Track application? I am planning to apply from bangalore center and when I look online I can't find Fast Track option. Did you had any interview for Tier 2 General visa?

Many thanks

Hi Ishika,

I couldn't find Fast Track option online for Tier 2 either. When I went to the VFS centre, the guy over the counter asked me if I'm applying under Fast Track. That's when I learnt that there's a fast track route available for out-of-country Tier 2 applicants as well. The gov websites do not mention this fact. I asked the folks at VFS to convert my application to Fast Track and they agreed. I had to to pay Rs. 10,500/- in cash (per applicant), on the spot, to opt for Fast Track processing.

Once you make the payment and submit your documents, the VFS agent affixes a "Priority Visa" seal on all your applications.
