SOC - applicable codes

Post by jpizzle » Mon May 09, 2011 10:16 pm

Hopefully someone here can advise on this:

Is the Tier 2 limited only to jobs listed under 'Related Job Titles' on the UKBA's SOC list for jobs at graduate level? Or should one refer back to the Statistics website and select a job title with the same SOC CODE?

The reason I ask, shouldn't the job titles with the same SOC on the Statistics website be at the same skill level??

Also, my job titles SOC code is listed on UKBA's SOC list, but has not been specifically stated under 'Related Job Titles'. Is it that UKBA only allow jobs that have been listed under 'Related Job Titles' and not necessarily all job titles with that same SOC CODE on the list?

I am unsure why that would be the case?

or maybe it is easier to answer when asked like this...
If the SOC CODE for my job title is on the UKBA graduate level job list, but is not specifically mentioned under 'Related Job Titles' on that same list, does the job still qualify for Tier 2?
Regards

For instance, if using the SOC Code ‘1231 Property, housing and land managers’, can a sponsor only conduct a RLMT and sponsor a migrant from one of the ‘Related Job Titles’ as stated on the UKBA list, in this case either a Housing, Property or Chopping Centre Manager, or is it acceptable to refer to the extensive Statistics SOC list and select the most appropriate 1231 coded job title from there?
Wouldn’t all job titles listed under the same SOC Code on the Statistics list be at the same skill level? Therefore all coded as 1231 would be classed as graduate level and therefore qualify for Tier 2?
I would appreciate anyone’s knowledge or thoughts on this.
Kind regards,
J
