Birth Certificate instead of Marriage

Hi,

My friend is going to apply for Tier 4 alongside his wife as his dependent. In Iran, marriages are registered in both marriage certificate and in Birth certificates of husband and wife.

Currently, my friend does not have access to his marriage certificate. But he and his wife have their birth certificates which show their marriage. Then, could they present their birth certificates instead of their marriage certificates?

Don't think such a document would be recognized as a valid marriage certificate under British law. Therefore, might not be accepted.
